A little contrast to my daily life

First, let's define my daily life:

textbooks notes

But for an anomaly of a past week, I was allowed to go to four parties in a row—big big contrast to my 5pm curfew last year.

  1. Law Stein: with a "90's Rave" theme, this was the last of our four annual steins. (Although I hear of a fifth coming after the final exams.) The most un-sober I got on this night was at the pre-drinks party hehe.
  2. Opening Night Dinner: a great event for a chat with random new people. Fun, but I was extremely red and tipsy after one glass of chardonnay. Couldn't take more, or I wouldn't have been able to get to my bus home.
  3. Pub Crawl: Arrived at the city with my outfit ready, full-on with a stethoscope and all, I was planning to attend the event as a "zambuk" (kudos to you if you know what it means). But I didn't sleep well the night before, so after timekeeping for a mooting competition I wagged the event and went home. This day marked the failure of my party marathon. Sigh.
  4. Cocktail Party: free cocktails, interactions with lawyers at a large law firm at the Auckland Viaduct, what could go wrong? Well, a vodka-champagne mix pushed me over the edge and I couldn't stand straight for an hour afterwards. I suck at alcohol. Period.

So I trotted along to those parties in the name of "social network building" within my future career field. The last three were special events held by the NZLSA Conference, which I was invited to for building their website (together with Tim).

Now that also explains my lack of blogging. There, I've fulfilled my dream #1 of attending a classy, civilised cocktail event like those in movies and novels (except not as grand but still). And now, I'm back to reality:

Update: Added some photos of the party events!

I used to be so great at handing my alcohol, but I went about a year without drinking. Mostly because it was a busy year and there wasn't much going on in terms of social gatherings. Now I'm pretty much tipsy with just a glass of wine or a cocktail. Ooh, but I love cocktails! Especially anything with Midori in it. Yum!

I can still vividly remember the days when school took over my entire life...and I totally feel your pain, Rilla! Best of luck and just don't have a nervous breakdown like I almost did one semester. O_O

Your accounting coursebook looks very very nice and enchanting to me. Mine ws just dark blue with a picture of university's main building slapped on it.

Oooh, parties! Good for you!!! A classy party to boot? Do you have pictures? You sipping classy champagne in a floor-length dress? I need my fill of living vicariously through other people. XD

Oh lawd, economics. I detest this subject in highschool, I hope it's at least more enjoyable and fast-paced in university. You poor thing, you look like you've got a lot on your (study) plate.
That's a lot of parties in a short period of time though, really big on your parents to allow you to do that =P you must be happy they've finally let go of the reigns a bit. Way to drink, girl lol. If it's something important where you may need to retain information, I suggest drinking at the -end- of the night =P

Your classes seem labor-intensive. I like your post-it organization for public law.

I've never been in a real cocktail party before. I guess, I am not into those super classy parties, but maybe I should at least attend one or two, just for the experience ;)

My first thought twas - wow your notebooks are tidy! With all the little post-it tabs on the side appearing to be perfectly perpendicular to the side of the page and all... xD All those parties seem uni (law school) related... are they?
