The Phantom of the Opera

Made of WIN.

The $120 NZD ($65 USD) was so bloody worth the live stage show a few metres away from me. If you thought the 2004 movie was amazing (as I did), this was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G with capital letters.
I was sitting in the middle-middle of the theatre, and almost the entire time the chandelier was hanging right above my head.
And for those who don't know the story of this musical, the chandelier falls and crashes to the middle of the theatre. But W-O-W at the music and stage effects.
I came home, sat down at the computer, and am replaying the musical soundtracks and singing along to it. I remembered the entire script and the lyrics since years ago. I'm obsessed. I'm definitely going again when it comes to Auckland again in ten years' time.
What a great treat to myself to celebrate end of 2008 exams. If the show visits your way, make sure you throw in your money, and for the premium seats too. It's going to Perth after leaving Auckland at the end of the month. Again, made of WIN.

YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Um, I'm a little obsessed too. I sat in the very place you sat when I first saw it, and saw it in the summer again sitting higher up (with school). I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I really hope I get to see it again in London before they switch Phantoms (Ramin Karimloo). Every time they change actors over here they make small changes to the script here and there, and when I saw it in the summer he added in this BRILLIANT little bit which wasn't in it before. Once Christine has given him back the ring, he's yelling at her to go. She turns and slowly leaves as he continues to yell at her, but just as she leaves the stage he falls to his knees and shouts/cries "DON'T LET HER LEAVE ME!"
I'm always in tears during that whole scene, but that was the final touch. I was sitting next to my music teacher and my friend, and we all turned to look at each other and started sobbing at that. LOL. -

I really hate watching musicals

Still, maybe it's worth it looking at the Phantom of the Opera sometime. -

OMG RILLA I'M JEALOUS.
We don't have plays or theaters here, so I could never watch it
I only watched the POTO musical. My sister already saw the play too. GAH, UNFAIRNESS!

Living london = lots of chance to pick up budget theatre tickets. Phantom of the Opera is amazing but my fav is still got to be Les Mis.
-

Ooh..this is one of my fave of all time. I wanted to watch it when I was in New York during my vacation trip but didn't manage to get a seat

I watched the movie version of it though, the songs in there are amazing as well. -

I saw it on Broadway and the movie version AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH both are SO SO SO amazing.
I obsessed over the soundtrack for quite a while, I believe, and I still know all the words! -

OMG. This is one of the shows that I actually want to watch! The movie took my breath away, I am so saving up if they ever come up to Canada-land!

Chien: what's the difference between musical and play of the Phantom of the Opera? To my understanding it's a musical play...
-

I would love to go see a live show. It'd be awesome, I just don't have time to do that.
-

I've loved Phantom of the Opera ever since I was little!!! I wish they come to Vancouver. =(
-

Ahh! I'm so jealous of you

I'd love to see the phantom of the opera live show. We don't even get cool musicals to go to. Most of what shows in theaters here is locally produced crap. If they were to show the phantom of the opera here, I hope they don't totally kill it. We had a local version of Hairspray and THAT was full of lulz. The other kind of lulz. -

Lene: Why would they kill it lol? It's the Broadway crew producing it so there'll be a certain standard of quality.
-

I saw this play when I was younger at our local auditorium. I thought it was the greatest thing at the time! That was quite a few years ago, and I'm sure Phantom of the Opera live now is much, much more amazing. I've been itching to see it again, but haven't been able to. You're so lucky Rilla!

I've always wanted to see the real life showing of Phantom of Opera. I'm so jealous of you and hopefully I can one day see it. The music is amazing too
; definitely my favorite! -

Ack, my mum and her friend went to see it. So did a bunch of my friends - and they all pretty much had the same verdict as you. Mum had offered to pay for my ticket for me to go with her... but I declined... O_o

I love going to the theatre and Phantom of the Opera sounds amazing! It's so infuriating living so near London but rarely going there

I saw the musical years ago in London. I loved it, it was one of the best I've seen. The music is great. I haven't seen the movie.
